ASU partners with community colleges to smooth path for transfer students

In an effort to increase bachelor degree attainment for transfer students, Arizona State University Academic Alliances has been working to eliminate barriers to transfer and simplify the process with the MyPath2ASU® course-mapping tool and Universal Articulation partnership model. In addition to enhancing existing relationships with our Arizona community college partners, staff have been conducting outreach to form new alliances with community colleges across the country. And we are excited to announce that we have established over 150 partnerships, a new milestone for the university!

With forty-two percent of all newly enrolled ASU students in fall 2021 having taken courses from another institution, the impact of transfer coursework applicability cannot be overstated. ASU News recently highlighted this achievement and how ASU is working to eliminate transfer obstacles. We invite you to read more about the influence MyPath2ASU and the Universal Articulation partnership model are having on transfer student success.

How ASU student used MyPath2ASU to simplify the transfer process from Northland Pioneer College

First-generation and MyPath2ASU transfer student Angelica Abeita never imagined that she would be a member of the All-Arizona Academic Team as a university student at ASU. Beginning at Northland Pioneer College , Angelica utilized MyPath2ASU and shares how the pathway program simplified the transfer process. “MyPath2ASU helped in the application process, ensuring that the business program was right for me. I was provided with detailed information about the program, and MyPath2ASU made it easy for me to submit my application because I was guided through the process the entire way.”

Now a student in the W. P. Carey School of Business, Angelica plans to graduate with her BA in Business Administration in fall 2024. Read more about Angelica’s journey to ASU and watch her video as she shares her inspirational story for other transfer students.

College Connections: Connecting ASU academic units with community college partners

This past month, Academic Alliances collaborated with the Thunderbird School of Global Management to hold the inaugural College Connections webinar for community college advisors, counselors and staff who work with students planning to transfer to ASU — and we are happy to share that it was a great success! With over 40 participants, attendees learned about degree programs, planning tips for transfer students, MyPath2ASU, activities and support services, helping students make a smooth transition to ASU, and more. Thank you to the Thunderbird School of Global Management for providing an exceptional presentation and showcasing your school.

College Connections is designed to provide community college transfer partners with information and resources they can share with students pursuing specific majors and areas of study. We are excited to continue working with ASU academic units to offer additional programming for the College Connections webinar series taking place monthly throughout the fall semester. Stay tuned for more information.

If your academic unit would like to be a part of this year's presentation schedule, please contact Kathy Silberman at kathy.silberman@asu.edu.

For prospective students, Fun Fridays with ASU transfer student ambassadors!

Whether prospective transfer students are already signed up for MyPath2ASU or are looking to learn more about it, we’d like to invite them to join ASU transfer student ambassadors at our Fun Friday webinars. Connect with other community college transfer students as they share helpful tips and information, personal advice and their own transfer stories. What better way to get first-hand knowledge about transferring to ASU and using MyPath2ASU to simplify the process than from transfer students themselves during these fun and interactive webinars.

Fun Fridays with the TSAs are held the first Friday of every month at 11 a.m. AZ time. Please share with prospective transfer students and staff who work with them. The next Fun Friday webinar is taking place on July 7, 2023.
